Be a Food Scientist!
For 7 to 10 y/o

Learn the concepts of how heat changes the states of matter. Find out the freezing and melting points of yummy chocolates!
Create your own natural PH indicator to test out which is the most acidic fruit. Create an electrical circuit with a sour fruit!
Release carbon dioxide in the kitchen with regular food items! What is carbon dioxide and how does it affect us?
Examine the living microorganisms found in the kitchen. Where can you find bacteria and yeast?
Learn about the molecular structure of soap and how it removes oily substances. Create a kaleidoscope of colour with soap, milk and food colouring!

Create your own rainbows and learn that white light is actually made up of different colours!
Examine the screens of phones using microscopes: and observe how different colours combine to become white light.
Learn that plants only absorb some colours of light for photosynthesis: they reflect the other colours.
Understand that the sun emits ultraviolet light. We can block UV light with sunblock lotion.
Carry out an experiment to show that black objects absorb more light energy compared to white objects. That is why wearing a black shirt under a hot afternoon sun is not a good idea!

JUNE STUDY SESSIONS
This June, we are organising study sessions for P3 - P5 students at Science Studios Learning Centre.
During each session, students will be working on answering OEQs and MCQs for 3 revision topics of their choice. Tutors will be present throughout the session to guide students in their concepts, keywords and answering techniques. The sessions are as follows (students may choose one or more sessions to attend):
13th, 20th or 27th, Saturday

19th or 26th, Friday

2pm - 4pm
(2h each session. Students may choose to attend either 1, 2 or 3 sessions)
